Softball Story (How did you get started? Tell us about you-

Beginning of softball started for me in 2019 when a friend was playing, and I wanted to see how it was, I was a gymnast at the time. The first person to coach me and give me a spark for the sport is Coach Steph she spent hours at the school next door teaching, coaching and inspiring me. I broke my arm my first season and spent most of that season on the sideline. In the beginning, although I went to multiple tryouts I wasn’t getting chosen. Notably one of my biggest fans, Coach Justin cut me at a tryout to which I later worked on improving and now he will always be one of my best advocates. I had a few rough couple of seasons starting the game with little knowledge, but as I grew in the sport there has always been a great support, and love behind me. My parents & siblings are always on the go with me no matter what, picking up extra practices, games, camps, private lessons, and travel without hesitation, my baby sister has been out here with me since she was nine days old. Coaches I have grown with are amazing, I was on Texas Legends for two seasons, Coach Pat of Texas Legends still supports, encourages and follows me no matter what, he is family. My current softball family is BC Apparel. The transition to BC Apparel was just the challenge I wanted to push on to be an even better softball player as well as teammate. Coach Hunter, Reggie, Tierra & the BC girls have really pushed me and continue to push me beyond what I feel I can often do. Extra work has always been a part of my game and when I started taking lessons with Coach LC Watson I found a confidence to the game I was lacking, he has really helped with my swing & mentality.

Favorite Softball memory-

Other than a handful of plays that stick out my favorite memories are the time I spend with my teammates & family. My recently my favorite play is the diving play I made at 2nd during the TFL tournament a few weekends ago.

What do you like to do outside of softball?*

Stay active with volleyball & basketball, spend time with family and friends, as well as travel.

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)

On the field one of my goals is hitting a homerun and off the field my goal is to get straight A’s.

Coaches Feedback-

This Kid truly has a fantastic work ethic and always wants for. First to volunteer to do anything, one of the most vocal players on the field and gives her all! This kid is not afraid to get dirty and has made many exceptional plays when diving. Amazing kid and athlete!

As Coaches we work hard to develop all of these young athletes but when she is not with her team she works with some of the best hitting and fielding instructors in our area and we would like to say thank you to LC and Shelbi Watson for their devotion to working with Sami and manny other young athletes.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.

To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
