Maddie Murphy named ACFL Player of the Month for August

The Atlantic Coast Fastpitch League (ACFL) is excited to spotlight Maddie Murphy as the August Player of the Month. The 2026 is an outfielder for Starz Gold National.

During the AFCS, Murphy had an impressive showing at the plate with a batting average of .444 and a.556 slugging percentage. Murphy racked up 8 hits and 8 RBIs!

How did you get started?

I started playing softball when I was 4 years old for a local t-ball team. The more I played softball the more I fell in love with the sport, when I was 8 I decided that I wanted to play for my first travel ball team. Hitting is my favorite part of softball however not too long ago I wasn’t very good and I stayed out or at the bottom of the lineup. With a lot of hard work and A great hitting coach I have gotten so much better and I really enjoy hitting.

Favorite Softball memory?

My favorite softball memory was in middle school softball last year, It started raining and we were 3 runs away from run ruling the other team. The first pitch of the count I fouled the ball off and noticed that my bad felt a little weird. The second pitch I swung and hit a homerun over the fence, but when I hit the ball, my bat broke in half. The game ended after that and I still have both pieces of my bat.
