About the HFL

The Heart Of America Fastpitch league

The Heart of America Fastpitch League (HFL) was launched in May 2020 by top clubs in the Midwest, Great Lakes, and Mid-Atlantic Regions (who would later form the ACFL, fall 2021). The idea for the HFL had been in discussion amongst clubs and event organizers for a couple of months before officially launching. In addition to the need to regionalize play during the pandemic, the clubs had a desire to connect existing elite events and create a collegiate type format with Conferences and pathways to Championships.

As the HFL was discussing their plans, the Texas Fastpitch League (TFL) was announced. Parallel conversations between the two leagues help start the unity and collaboration that would eventually become the Alliance Fastpitch.

What Is the HFL?

The Heart of America Elite Fastpitch League divisions includes the following states along with Washington D.C:

    • Central: Ohio, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania

    • East: North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., Maryland, Delaware

    • North: Minnesota, Michigan, Wisconsin, South Dakota, North Dakota

    • West: Missouri, Iowa, Arkansas, Kansas, Nebraska

The HFL exists to provide all fastpitch teams access to elite level competition. We strive to grow young women at a regional and national level through the game of fastpitch softball by offering access to camps, clinics, and player-centric resources. The ultimate goal of the HFL is to build a community to give a voice to and provide access for all Member teams and their players to achieve their goals on and off the field.

How is the HFL related to the other leagues?

The HFL is a Member League of The Alliance Fastpitch and will operate in collaboration with the five other Member Leagues in the Alliance. This means that the League Championship and top finishers in AFCS Qualifying Events will earn a berth to The Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series. Being a League Team inside of The Alliance Fastpitch means team standings will be calculated at each age division and team and individual stats will be recognized

Additionally, this means all individual athletes and individual coaches will register as individual members of The Alliance Fastpitch. This membership includes insurance, discounted background checks for coaches, and access to all Membership Benefits.

See more about Alliance Memberships.

How do I earn points in the HFL?

Teams earn points at Alliance endorsed events. Events can be found on our league schedule.

All games MUST be scored using AthletesGoLive (AGL). AGL provides reports about the event - what teams played each other, game scores, and stats. It is VERY important to score all of your games in AGL. If you do not score your games in AGL, they will not be included in our leaderboard calculations. To confirm your Alliance ID has been tied to your AGL account, log into your AGL team account (app or web) and your Alliance ID will be listed on the HOME page. If it is blank, please follow these instructions to register for AGL: Click here
