The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is proud to name Campbell Taylor the PCFL’s 1oU Fall Spotlight Athlete for 2021.

Campbell, a San Gabriel, CA native, did it all for her team (Batbusters ET) this fall. Offensively in Alliance events Campbell recorded 15 hits in 36 at-bats, scoring 10 runs, and notched 11 RBIs en route to a .417 batting average and .500 on-base percentage. In the circle, she secured a 5-1 record and a 1.15 ERA. Through 30 innings of work she only allowed seven runs and fanned 46.

Meet Campbell:

Q: Tell us a little bit about you and your softball story?
A: My Softball Story began on the fields at San Marino National Little League. As a toddler, I would tag along with my parents to watch my 2 older sisters practice and play, eager to finally be old enough to join. I started with T-ball and coach pitch, playing with the boys, and when I was 5, the league allowed me to sometimes fill-in when the big girls in 8U softball needed an extra player. I’ve been a SOFTBALL player ever since. I enjoy playing multiple positions as a utility player and I especially love pitching.

I began playing travel softball a few months after the pandemic started and I love playing with such talented athletes. My most fun and exciting memories were made on the diamond. I joined Batbusters ET in the fall of 2021 and am so lucky to be a part of such an amazing group of ballers – I can’t wait to make more exciting memories with my softball sisters!

Q: What is your favorite softball memory?
A: So many memories! The memory that stands out the most is from a tournament in Bullhead City in February of last year. It stands out because, after a not so great day of pool play, my team fought really hard all the way through bracket play and made it to the championship game. It was a really tight final game and we ended up in an International Tie Breaker. It was the top of the tie breaker inning, bases were loaded, and it was my turn to bat. I remember walking to the batter’s box, and my coach telling me to “Just Execute.” Okay! On the first pitch, I hit a line drive ground rule double that bounced over the left centerfield fence and scored 2 runs to give my team the lead. The cheering from the stands was so loud and we were so excited! I later pitched the bottom of that inning and was able to shut out the other team and help secure my team’s championship win. That championship ring is still my favorite of all rings. It’s my daily reminder to “just execute.”

Coaches Feedback:

What makes Campbell a special player is her attitude, her instincts and her natural leadership skills.  She works hard to get better each day, asks insightful questions to gain situational awareness, and is quick to pick up her teammates’ spirits when they are down.  Campbell plays with intensity, passion and heart, and she motivates her team to compete, perform and grind. She has a fiery presence about her that is contagious – you will know when she’s around. Despite her youth, Campbell has leadership and motivation skills well beyond her years.
