Players Response

Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?

I started playing 6U softball when I was 4 years old, my dad coached my sister, me and my friends, he used to put a rubber chicken on a tee and if we hit with the ball, we would get candy. I started playing 8U when I was 5 and made the 8U All Star team right after my 6th birthday. After that I was hooked and have played every season since then.

What has been your favorite softball memory?

I have lots of fun softball memories, cheering in the dugout and hanging out with my teammates is always a blast but my favorite is probably when I pitched my 1st no hitter.

Who is your favorite softball player?

My favorite player is Sis Bates, she’s fast and makes good really plays. Someday I hope to be as good as her.

What do you like to do outside of softball?

I like going to the beach with my family and friends, seeing the tigers, leopards, and elephants at the San Diego Zoo, playing in the yard with my animals and having sleepovers with my friends. I also really like doing my hair, nails, and makeup.

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)

Currently I’m working on perfecting a new pitch and trying to increase my speed. I aspire to play for college softball and be a pitching coach someday and get a degree in nursing.

Coaches Response

Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.

Cheyenne Started playing softball at the age of 4 and has always played “up” with her older sister. Watching her throughout the years she really looked up to the older girls and mimicked what they were doing. She quickly fell in love with pitching and worked hard for an entire year before she was game ready. Now, for the first time, playing in her league age appropriate second year, she’s a beast and brings great vibes to the team when she toes the rubber! She has also become quite the hitter, whether laying down a bunt or a shot to the gap!

Outside of softball, this student athlete holds a 3.8 GPA, and strives to be the best at whatever she does. Cheyenne is one of those people you are just drawn to and always has a great attitude!

Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?

So many great memories with this kid! One that stands out recently is when she decided she wanted to start pushing the envelope on the base path and truly believed if she ended up in a pickle, she would win! Well, the kid had great instincts and is amazing at it. Her speed and agility is something else, and also has an incredible pop-up slide!

Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?

Being Cheyenne’s coach and also her dad comes with it own challenges and pressure. She knows eyes are always on her constantly but rises to the occasion to be the best teammate she can possibly be. Cheyenne is one of the hardest working ball players out there and knows when she is on that field, she is treated the same as her teammates by all her coaches

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
