From the RMFL to Members: Answering Your Questions About the AFCS

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series?

The Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS) is the culminating event for the top teams in each Member League.

It is designed to be a true National Championship Series and it will name a National Champion at each age level and Tier. Teams must earn either a Tier I or Tier II berth to the AFCS.

My team is in the Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League. How do I get to the AFCS?

The Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League (RMFL) will award all of its AFCS Berths at the Super Regional tournament in June. We will invite the top 10 teams in each age division from New Mexico, Utah, Idaho, and Montana, and the top 12 teams in each age division from Colorado and Wyoming to compete at Super Regionals. The 12U and 14U super regionals are scheduled for June 11-13, and the 16U and 18U teams will compete June 24-26.

Wait, you mentioned berths. What are those?

In order to compete at the AFCS, your team must earn a berth from your league. All RMFL berths will be awarded at the RMFL Super Regionals. The RMFL has an allotted number of berths for each age group and each tier to award.

  • 12U Tier I: 3
  • 12U Tier II: 3
  • 24 teams will compete for the six 12U berths.
  • 14U Tier I: 3
  • 14U Tier II: 4
  • 16U Tier I: 3
  • 16U Tier II: 7
  • 18U Tier I: 3
  • 18U Tier II: 7

When & where is the AFCS?

It depends on your age group and which tier berth you earn.

12U AFCS will be in Southern California

Tier I: Monday, July 26 – Saturday, July 31

Tier II: Tuesday, July 27 – Saturday, July 31

14U AFCS will be in Viera, FL

Tier I: Monday, July 26 – Saturday, July 31

Tier II: Tuesday, July 27 – Sunday, Aug. 1

16U AFCS will be in Oklahoma City, OK

Tier I: Sunday, July 25 – Friday, July 30, 2021

Tier II: Wednesday, July 28 – Monday, Aug. 2

18U AFCS will be in Oklahoma City, OK

Tier I: Saturday, July 24 – Thursday, July 29, 2021

Tier II: Tuesday, July 27 – Sunday, Aug. 1

What if my team doesn’t qualify?

Any Alliance team that does not earn a Tier I or Tier II berth will be eligible to participate in the AFCS Open. There will not be any berths, and any Alliance team can register to play. BUT, your team must be registered with The Alliance to enter.

All Open tournaments will run from Monday, July 26 to Saturday, July 31.

  • 12U: Bentonville, AR
  • 14U: Clearwater, FL
  • 16U and 18U: Broken Arrow, OK
