HANNAH TAYLOR NAMED SEFL SPOTLIGHT PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH

The Southeastern Fastpitch League (SEFL) is excited to spotlight Hannah Taylor as the March Spotlight Player of the Month. Taylor is a 2023 catcher for Tampa Mustangs Rene. The 2023 is committed to Eckerd College and attends Hernando High School in Brooksville, FL.

Softball Story

I’ve played for as long as I can remember starting when I was four. It has always been something I’ve enjoyed since I started and it turned to me being introduced to travel ball where I played on Lutz Lightning when I turned 8. I stayed with that group of girls and coaches until everyone went there separate ways the beginning of my freshman year. From there I’ve played on Tampa Mustangs Rene where we’ve competed at the highest level and have a tight bond.

Who is your favorite softball player?

Megan Lane, she is my cousin and graduated from Mercer a few years back. I looked up to her from the time I was 7 when I choose number 00 after her and have had it ever since. She was also a catcher and I always strived to follow in her footsteps.

Favorite Softball memory?

Colorado sparkler last summer, we played 4 games Saturday back to back fighting out of the losers bracket to playing 4 more back to back Sunday and we ended up falling short in the championship game but the excitement and fun that came from us working so hard together was definitely the best experience.

What do you like to do outside of softball?

Outside of softball I work part time and enjoy going out on the boat and going swimming

What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field?

All of the goals I had for myself senior year I accomplished (home run single season and career record and career RBI) but as a team our goal is to win states since we came short the last two years and got second place.

Coaches Feedback-

Hannah is the type of player who leads by her actions. She is a humble athlete and a great teammate. Solid work-ethic. Hannah comes to practice and games focused, prepared and ready to put the work in. Hannah is the player every coach wants on their roster. She has fun playing the game, supports her teammates, and constantly delivers. Hannah broke the HR record for her high school. She broke that record in only 2 1/2 years; given it was only a few games in her Senior year and her Freshman year was cut short to Covid. Hannah is going to do great things in college and in life. It has been a privilege to coach Hannah. I look forward to finishing the summer strong with her and receiving that HomeRun smile and fist bump a few more times as she rounds third.

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a deserving player from their age division who exemplifies commitment to the sport and those who excel off the field. League Leadership will review nominations to determine the League’s Spotlight Player of the Month.
