Mylee Stagner’s softball journey begins at an early age, practically raised at the ballpark while watching her older sister, Gabby Stagner, play. Gabby started playing softball at the age of four, and with a six-year age gap between them, Mylee spends much of her childhood watching Gabby’s games. Gabby now plays as a senior at the University of South Alabama. Mylee gets her own start in the game when she’s just five years old, joining a tee-ball team called the Strawberry Shortcakes.
Mylee’s introduction to travel ball comes sooner than expected. When her middle sister, Lillie Anne, who is two years older and now verbally committed to the University of South Alabama, is short on players for a tournament with her team, the Mobile Thrillers, they decide to put Mylee in right field at just six years old. She recalls feeling terrified, not only because it’s her first time playing travel ball, but also because she’s playing alongside girls two years her senior. That experience cements her love for the game, and from that moment on, Mylee never looks back, continuing to play alongside her sisters.
One of Mylee’s most cherished memories is hitting her first home run in Gulf Shores at 11 years old, a milestone that remains special to her.
Her favorite player is Amanda Lorenz, who serves as a source of inspiration. When Mylee isn’t on the softball field, she enjoys playing volleyball and spending time riding jet skis and tubing.
Currently, Mylee’s goals are to play Division 1 collegiate softball and finish school with a perfect 4.0 GPA. Her determination on the field is mirrored in the classroom, where she strives for excellence in all areas of her life.
The Alliance Fastpitch recently recognized Mylee as Player of the Month, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to the sport and her commitment to both personal and athletic growth.
Mylee’s coach, Charles Ammon, describes her as the best teammate anyone could ask for. Despite being one of the youngest players on the team, she leads with maturity beyond her years, following when necessary and stepping up when needed. Coach Ammon praises her for her character, dependability, and academic excellence, noting that she can be trusted in any situation.
One of his favorite memories of Mylee is watching her come out of a slump by hitting seven home runs and leading the tournament in RBIs at the AFON. Her resilience and refusal to give up prove that Mylee doesn’t know the meaning of “quit.” She’s an athlete who gives her all, no matter what.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
