Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?
I started playing baseball when I was 6. My school wouldn’t let me play baseball in 7th grade, so I switched over to softball. I have been on a couple other club teams and then I followed my friend to Arizona Hotshots Gold Downes/Isaacson. This was the best decision I have ever made. My coach Brad Downes has greatly impacted not only my softball career but my outlook on life. He is always super supportive and is always looking out for you. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him. I absolutely love my teammates. They are the reason I keep falling in love with the sport. They always have my back and they are my family.
What has been your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory was definitely this summer in Indiana for the Alliance Fastpitch Tournament. Spending time with the team and playing softball was amazing. We made it to the Elite 8 and ended up getting 3rd place in Tier 2 Nationals. Winning games and enjoying time with my favorite people was the greatest part of my summer. It was definitely my favorite tournament.

What do you like to do outside of softball?
I enjoy spending time with family and friends. Watching movies and hanging out with the people I love is my favorite thing to do outside of softball.
What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)
My goals for softball are to keep pushing myself to my fullest potential. Always do my best and go all out no matter the situation. My school goals are to continue getting good grades and finding an area of study that I enjoy. My goals for life are to be kind, happy, and successful.
Coach Feedback
Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.
Devin is an all-around athlete. She is good at every sport she plays and likes to compete. She is a great teammate and leader. She cheers for her teammates and leads them by example. She is one of the hardest workers on the team and helps every player with anything they ask about. She is very family-oriented but likes to take on new adventures. Devin is talkative on and off the field. She asks questions and always wants to improve especially if it involves a challenge.
Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?
Every game is fun to watch Devin play. She has such quick hands on transition that we sometimes just watch in awe as she makes plays. She has been critical batting, but my favorite play was a 6-3 triple play she turned for us in Florida. She snagged a line drive, tagged the runner leaving second and threw to first before that runner could return for the third out. Pure instincts and athleticism.
Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?
Devin is a great student and is out-going. Her family is important and she is always proud of them. She has no trouble making friends and will be wonderful at Iowa.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
