As part of the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program, we are excited to honor Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) first baseman, Jaelyn Toledo of Firecrackers (Brashear 16U) as the Senior Player of the Month for her remarkable performance in January.
Toledo had an exciting month at the plate with a .577 batting average. The 2025 showed out with a 1.953 OPS, 14 RBIS, 4 singles, 5 doubles, 3 triples and 3 homeruns.
Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?
I started playing basketball when I was 4, then at age 9 I decided to try softball. I quickly fell in love with it and I never laced up my basketball shoes after that. The difficulty and constant failure captured me right away. I wanted to prove to myself and everyone that I can, and I will succeed as long as I maintained 100% attitude and effort at all times.
What has been your favorite softball memory?
My favorite softball memory must be playing in the alliance championship last year at Cal State Fullerton. It was an amazing stage to play on with at times intense moments, but I had an amazing time doing it with my softball sisters.
Who is your favorite softball player?
My favorite softball player is Rachel Garcia because she was a prime example that doing it all is possible if you are willing to put in the work.
What do you like to do outside of softball?
When I have time outside of training and lessons I like to hang out with my friends and playing with my dog. I also enjoy going to the driving range as well as going to the gym with my brother.
What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)
One of my goals for softball I would say is to get back in the pitching circle again and outside of softball is to hit my squat PR of 200lbs.
Coaches Feedback (Sean Brashear)
Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.
Jaelyn is a tremendous hitter who has a great work ethic. She handles herself in big moments and is a big game player.
Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?
In a qualifier game she had a walk off moment in an ITB game with 2 outs and 2 on she came thru. This is when she is at her best in the biggest moments.
Is there anything else you’d like to share, include, or that we should know?
I was able to Coach her last year in her freshman year in High School at Mater Dei in Southern California and she was 1st team All-League in the Trinity League hitting over .400
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
