During the month of February Jinna racked up 60 strike outs in 28.2 innings pitched with only 9 earned run and 22 hits allowed. Jinna not only performed well in the circle, but also at the plate. The 10U pitcher posted an impressive .636 batting average with 14 hits and 10 RBIs.

Softball Story (How did you get started?) – Tell us about you:
“I am 10 years old and this is my second year of travel ball,” said Jinna. “I started playing softball at 4 years old in West Covina when my mom signed me up. I fell in love with the game from there. I would watch college softball games and I knew I wanted to be a pitcher. I love watching college games because I like to figure out what the next pitch will be or what a pitcher will do when placed in a situation with adversity. I am blessed to have a family that supports me and provide me with all the tools that I need to succeed. I am currently playing for Corona Angels where I play for an amazing coaching staff and wonderful teammates. Softball has become part of my everyday life whether practicing with my team, my private lessons, or practicing with my dad. The game of softball has taught me dedication and has shown me that hard work does pay off hopefully to even obtain a college scholarship because that is the ultimate goal.”

Favorite Softball memory:
“I have made some of my BEST softball memories this season. A few weeks ago, and because of my teammates, I was able to secure a no-hitter in the Alliance Qualifier. The bond my team and I have right now is incredible and I can’t wait to continue making memories with them.”

Coaches feedback:
“Samaya’s focus and attitude for a 10u player is a coach’s joy,” said head coach Chanita Rogers-Edwards. “You can definitely see she loves the game! Her mound presence and threat at the plate continue to get better each game we play! Definitely look forward to coaching and watching her grow in the future.
