The Southeastern Fastpitch League is excited to announce the SEFL’s November Player of the Month: A’miyah Collier!
Collier, a 2023 graduate from Russelville, KY., dominated November hitting an eye-popping .867 and an OPS of 2.667. She also notched eight RBIs, three doubles, one triple, three home runs, and two stolen bases. Collier competes for TN Mojo 05-Hunter.
A’miyah is the most gifted athlete I have had the pleasure of coaching. Her pure athletic ability is something all coaches dream of. At the plate, she has the ability to hit the ball out of the park at any time, but will beat you in the small ball game with her elite speed as well. Defensivly she can play any position on the field, including pitch, at a very high level. A’miyah is a great kid on and off the field. She is the type of teammate that others gravitate to with her quick whitted personality. MEET A’MIYAH:
Q: Can you share a little bit about your softball story?
Collier: I started playing softball when I was 4 years old. As a kid my parents signed me up for every sport. I was striving in each sport, and at one point in time I had no clue which sport was my favorite. As I got older around the age 10, I realized that gymnastics and softball were the two I absolutely loved. At first, I was all about gymnastics and competing. When I got on my 10u travel ball team is when I really fell in love with the sport. I loved everything about traveling and going to play in different places against different competition. When I got to middle school Is when I made the big decision to quit gymnastics to play softball. Ever since then nothing has changed. I still enjoy everything about being on a softball field. When it comes to playing, it feels so natural and easy for me. I am so blessed I was given the talent and ability to be able to showcase my gift all around the world. Q: What is your favorite softball memory?
Collier: My favorite softball memory has to be when I made my first diving play in center for the last out of the inning . The score was tied with two outs, and my team had the last at-bat. The ball was a line drive hit in the gap. As i´m running and tracking the ball I noticed it dropping, and for the first time I made a diving catch. I was so excited,my left fielder was hyping me up, and the energy just completely took off from there. I also led off that same inning and got on base as the winning run.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
