The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is excited to spotlight Olivia Manchester as the September Player of the Month. Manchester is a pitcher with Batbusters Gomes Ching 16U.

This fall, Manchester pitched 18.1 innings with a .328 ERA. The 2023 pitcher recorded a 2-1 record with 26 Ks.

“Olivia is a great addition to the team. She has great spin and control of all her pitches. She has been a student of Rich Balswick and is continuing to perfect her pitches,” coach Shawn Ching said. “Olivia’s movement surpasses her velocity and she is continually working on getting her velocity numbers up. Along with pitching she is one of our leadoff hitters Batting .625 with above average speed with the ability to slap and also lay down a bunt. Her cumulative GPA is 4.25 and her aspirations is to be a pharmacist.”

Olivia started playing softball at the early age of 6 years old. “My mom had put me in a local recreational league. It wasn’t until I started pitching that I began to develop a love for the sport,” she said. “As a pitcher, I have never been crazy fast or impressed anyone with my speed. I always needed to work hard on all aspects of pitching in order to be able to compete. Both in softball and in school, I have this internal drive to do work hard, and strive to do my best work. My goal as a teammate is to encourage everyone and always show a willingness to help when needed.”

“One of my favorite memories was in Colorado when my team was playing one of the best teams in Oklahoma. I loved how we were able to come together, even though we didn’t win, and compete to the best of our abilities.”

From all of us at the Alliance and the PCFL, congratulations to Olivia Manchester for her achievements.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?

The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.

Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.

To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
