The Alliance Fastpitch is honored to recognize Jayla Brown (2025) from the Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) as National Player of the Month for her remarkable October performance. Jayla is a corner infielder for the OC Batbusters Lara 18U. This month, Brown averaged an amazing .773 at the plate over 22 at bats. Her amazing stat was accompanied by 5 runs batted in, 13 singles, and 4 doubles.

Jayla Brown’s softball journey is nothing short of extraordinary, beginning at the age of 5 when she joined Glendora Lassie League Softball. Inspired by her big sister, who left an indelible mark on the softball field and earned a full-ride scholarship at LMU, Jayla was determined to follow in her sibling’s footsteps. Her early passion for the sport manifested in her participation in Rec Softball in Glendora and Little League Softball in La Verne, earning her a spot on the Allstar/Select team for both teams.

Though Jayla began making an impact in travel softball at age 12, high school softball at Charter Oak High School later saw Jayla making a significant impact. As a freshman, she secured a spot on the varsity team and earned Honorable Mention All-League, hitting over 400. The following year, she elevated her game, claiming All-League First Team and Offensive MVP honors while maintaining a remarkable batting average of over .500. Recognition continued with her selection to the San Gabriel Valley All-Star Team and the prestigious title of Offensive MVP.

Jayla’s exceptional skills and achievements didn’t go unnoticed, leading to her commitment to St. Mary’s College (SMC) of California. Beyond the allure of the beautiful campus and great coaches, she was drawn to the opportunity to play in the West Coast Conference, where her sister had left her mark five years prior.

Reflecting on her favorite softball memory, Jayla recalls the determination and hard work that propelled her from being a novice pitcher at 6 to becoming the best 8U pitcher in the league. This early lesson in dedication and perseverance became a guiding principle, influencing her work ethic in all aspects of the game, especially hitting.

With Jocelyn Alo as her favorite softball player, Jayla’s interests extend beyond the diamond to baking and thrifting. On the field, her aspirations are set on becoming a college All-American, while off the field, she harbors a deep-seated desire to make a positive impact in the world, recognizing the potential for meaningful contributions yet to be defined.

In Jayla Brown, we witness not only a formidable athlete but a determined and well-rounded individual whose journey epitomizes the values of hard work, dedication, and a passion for making a difference both in softball and the world beyond.
