Taylour Spencer Recognized as PCFL Player of the Month for February
By: Hannah Famiano
March 10th, 2021 – The Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) is excited to spotlight Taylour Spencer for February’s Player of the Month in our Alliance Player Recognition Program. Taylour Spencer is from Murrieta, CA from Vista Murrieta High school. She is a part of the Corona Angels 16U Slye and although she is uncommitted, she is hoping for good things coming September 1st.
During the month of February Taylour had a perfect 4-0 record on the mound. Along that impressive stat, she fanned 24 batters in only 18 innings pitched! Her ERA stands out as it sits at .05 and she continues to dominate in the circle for her team and growing as the season goes on.
Coach Dena speaks very highly about Spencer and states, “Taylour has come up from 14s and has competed to have the ball in the big game. She is committed to mastering her two ‘swing and miss’ pitches, the rise ball and changeup. And if you see Taylour on the mound you can see how her high energy makes her defense want to play behind her and make plays!”
Coach B, the Angels’ pitching coach, also talks very highly about her grit, “Taylour is one of the hardest working pitchers I’ve ever coached. Her work ethic and determination to succeed is second to none. She sets goals and destroys them without a second glance.
Spencer also has an interesting story of how she got started in softball, “Softball for me started when I was 6 years old. My parents tried other activities and could tell it was not for me but when I started in softball, I was HOOKED. Softball was a place where I could be loud, energetic, and be with friends. My dad did not want me to be a pitcher because I was always bigger and stronger than most kids my age, so he thought I should be a catcher. When I told my mom that I wanted to try pitching lessons my dad said NO, but my mom said we had to let her try. I never looked back after that first lesson. There was no doubt about it, pitching was what I wanted to do!!!”
When we asked Taylour what her favorite softball memory was, she responded with “I have so many! Going all the way back to my last season of rec ball where we won the 10u State Championship. It was the first ever State Championship for French Valley. Most recent is the feeling I had when we went undefeated in Arizona to get our Tier1 birth to the AFCS”
Congratulations to Taylour Spencer from Corona Angels 16U Slye for being recognized as the Player of the Month athlete for the PCFL in February.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Starting this Spring, each League will name a Player of the Month for different age divisions.
Registered Alliance Fastpitch players will be placed in a pool based on verified stats from AthletesGoLive (AGL). AthletesGoLive(AGL) will run monthly reports and submit to the player selection committee for each League. Additionally, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches will have the opportunity to submit a player for consideration. Committee members will review verified stats and consider coach feedback to name League Players of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so her stats are considered in the monthly reports.
