Rhyan Waltonbaugh Named HFL’s May Player of the Month
By
The Heart of America Fastpitch League is thrilled to name Rhyan Waltonbaugh the HFL’s Player of the Month for May! Waltonbaugh is a member of OK Bombers 2k6 – Waltonbaugh and recorded an eye-popping .667 batting average.
We asked Rhyan some questions to get to know her better:
1. Tells us about your “softball story”, how did you get started?
Honestly, softball just runs in my family’s blood. My Mom and Dad introduced softball to me at a very young age (basically as soon as I could walk.) But the actual moment I KNEW that softball was “my thing” is when I attended the College World Series at age 7. The passion and GRIT I saw was amazing and is something I strive for! Plus, the goal to play at the collegiate level and at Hall of Fame Stadium one day is my driving force.
2. What is your favorite softball memory?
Thinking of just “one” of my favorite memories is nearly impossible. There is not one memory that sticks out more than the other because memories are continuously being formed when I am with my team. So, if I have to put the memory down…it has to be my team battling together during a hard game! The way my team has my back when I am a little off and the unlimited amount of support and laughs while we are TOGETHER!
Congratulations Rhyan, keep up the great work!
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
