Softball Story (How did you get started?) – Tell us about you:
“I have played softball since I can remember,” said McKay. “My mom said I played with my first team (Dirt Diamonds) when I was 4 years old. I am 16 now, so I have played a solid 12 years. I remember my mom and dad rolling me a softball in the living room and I would throw it back to them as hard as I could. They said they would just laugh because they knew how competitive I already was. My mom and dad both played baseball and softball growing up, so I guess I just knew I was meant to play softball. Since my first team, my dad has played a huge part in coaching me. He is actually my High School Coach as well. Softball has been a part of my family for a long time and it will for many more years to come. It is my passion. I am currently a sophomore in high school at Caddo, Oklahoma. I play for 18u Epic National under Coach Scotty Smith. I am a middle infielder, but will play my best wherever I am needed.”

Favorite Softball memory:
“My favorite softball memory so far is winning the Class A State Championship with my high school team. A couple weeks before that, my Papa passed away from cancer. He was a dedicated fan to me and my team and was always at our games cheering us on from the stands. During his fight with cancer, our team would always want to “Play 4 Papa”. Winning the State Championship was such a bittersweet moment for me, my dad, and my team. It is something I will never forget.”
