Lexie Balfanz named RMFL Co-Player of the Month for May
By
The Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League (RMFL) is excited to spotlight Lexie Balfanz as May’s Senior Player of the Month. Balfanz is a catcher and 1st baseman for the Colorado Styxx 16 Gold.
Balfanz had a batting average of 0.576, a slugging percentage of 0.939, and an OPS of 1.55 during the month of May. She had 2 home runs, 2 triples, 2 doubles, 13 singles, and 7 RBIs.
“Lexie is currently leading our team in batting with a .480 average on the season and a .529 OBP,” said her coach. “She has been a warrior behind the plate, catching 196 innings so far this season, with only 11 passed balls and leading the team with a .989 fielding percentage.”
“Lexie is an absolutely phenomenal athlete. I have been fortunate to coach her for the past 4 years and watch her grow into the player she is today. Lexie is a great leader, always encouraging our pitchers and grinding out innings. She has a phenomenal arm, keeping our opponents at bay on the base paths. She is an absolute menace with a bat in her hand, hitting the ball with scary velocity on a consistent basis. Her presence on our team is known and felt by everyone in the vicinity, you just can’t help but notice her. I am so proud of her and everything she has already accomplished and is yet to accomplish in the future.
Lexie Balfanz’s Softball Story:
“I started playing softball when I was 7 and started catching because my brother was a catcher as well. When I was 10 years old I met my coach, Lauren Paige, and she has been my coach ever since. My coaches and teammates have guided me to be the player and person I am today, I am excited to continue to improve as I get older.”
Lexie Balfanz’s Favorite Softball Memory:
“My favorite softball memory is traveling with my team to new places for tournaments. We get to see new places and play against new teams together. Being able to experience it all together is really special”
From all of us at the Alliance and the RMFL, congratulations to Lexie Balfanz for her achievements!
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
