Tell us a bit about your softball story! How’d you get started in the sport?
I guess you can say that softball is literally in my blood, my mom was a collegiate softball player before becoming a coach. As soon as I turned 4 and was eligible to play t-ball, my parents signed me up. From there, it stuck with me. Although I tried multiple sports, I always knew that softball was the one for me!
What has been your favorite softball memory?
One of my favorite softball memories happened during my first year playing competitive softball. My team was a very young team who still needed time to develop so when it came to championship Sundays, we were out first every single time. Except one, where I pitched my first ever shutout to move us farther into the tournament than we had ever been. That helped me realize that hard work does pay off.
Who is your favorite softball player?
Sis Bates or Jocelyn Alo
What do you like to do outside of softball?
While softball takes up a lot of my time, I am very passionate about cooking, baking, rock climbing, and being outdoors.
What are some of your current goals – both on and off the field? (Softball, school, other athletics, related, etc. all welcomed!)
One of my big goals for softball is to go on and play college softball. Off the field I hope to get my degree in business which I will then use to open my own restaurant that offers gluten-free food because it is difficult to find.
Coaches Response
Tell us a bit about your athlete? As a player, person, etc.
Karlee is a coach’s dream. She is coachable, a great teammate, and puts in the work on and off the field. Outside of Karlee’s athletic ability, she is a true student of the game. Even keeping the coaching staff on their toes at times.
Karlee is a 4.0 student outside of softball and loves to bake in her spare time. Karlee is interested in pursuing a degree in Business Administration. She wants to attend college when she graduates in 2025 in CO or IL, where she can be close to family.
Do you have a favorite memory or moment of this athlete?
My favorite memory of Karlee was last year in the Loretta Smith tournament when she received two Blue Ribbons awards for sportsmanship. The Blue-Ribbon awards were given out independently by the umpires and speaks to Karlee’s love for the game and her character.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
