The road to the Rocky Mountain Fastpitch League (RMFL) Super Regional begins this weekend!
The league’s first event, the IPSGA Tune Up Tournament, was supposed to be a two-weekend affair beginning last weekend. However, Mother Nature had other plans and the first weekend of play was canceled due to snow. The tournament will now just be played over one weekend, March 5 and 6, in Longmont, CO. At the end of the weekend a champion will be named for each age group (10u-18U).
Traditionally, the Tune Up Tournament is the first event on the Colorado schedule. The Tune UP is a good way for the players to get out on the field and prepare for the rest of the season, RMFL commissioner Randy Gale stated.
Each of the 33 participating RMFL teams are playing for RMFL points. Whenever two teams in the same league face each other, league points are at stake. Throughout the season, RMFL teams will have the opportunity to earn points during league games. At the end of the season, the league points standings from each age group will determine seeding for the postseason, including the RMFL Super Regionals and the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series.
In order to receive RMFL points, games must be scored using AthletesGoLive (AGL). AGL allows teams to score and stream their games, and it also produces reports that include game results and player statistics. (Coaches: note that AGL reports are used during Alliance Player Recognition selections.)
Most of the participating RMFL teams are based in Colorado, but a handful of teams will make the trip north from New Mexico, including the New Mexico Suncats-Gold 14u who will play in the 16u bracket.
