The Northeast Fastpitch League (NEFL) is proud to name Maya MacAdams the NEFL’s 16U Fall Spotlight Athlete for 2021.

Hailing from Woolwich, NJ, MacAdams enjoyed a big fall where her coach shared, “a few of Maya’s standout games this fall were at the East Coast Fall Showcase and Team New Jersey events in Phoenix, AZ and Clearwater, FL where she had days with multiple-hit games and notable performances in the outfield, leading the team with stolen bases and up to 4 RBIs in a game.”

Meet Maya:

Q: Tell us a little bit about you and your softball story?
A: I first signed up for tee-ball when I was five years old, and was on a travel team by the time I was eight. I was in a few different sports at the time but I quickly decided that softball was what I was most passionate about. I now play for both a travel team and my high school team.

Q: What is your favorite softball memory?
A: My favorite softball memory was when I got my first power slap in a game. I originally hit right-handed, so I had to teach myself how to hit left handed and slap. I would spend many hours swinging off of the tee, watching videos, and watching college softball players on TV. So when I slapped the ball to the fence and got around to third, I felt like all of my hard work paid off. I was able to drive runs home and we ended up winning the game.

“Maya is a strong player with the ability to move runners as a lefty slapper, use her speed on the bases, and swing away for power to score runners on base. She has both the talent to cover a lot of ground in the outfield and the athleticism to transition to play shortstop. Maya is just as impressive in the classroom as on the field with a 4.0 GPA as a sophomore at Kingsway Regional High School in Woolwich Township, NJ. Her work ethic, positive attitude, and perseverance make her a natural leader and I am very excited to see what lies in her future ahead.”
