Lydia Anderson named ACFL September Player of the Month
By jess
The Atlantic Coast Fastpitch League (ACFL) is excited to spotlight Lydia Anderson as the September Player of the Month. Anderson is a left-handed pitcher and utility player for the Williamsburg Starz Gold National.
Anderson had an excellent month in the circle and at the plate. The lefty secured two wins while posting a .571 batting average with 6 singles, 1 double 1 triple and 5 stolen bases.
“Lydia is a terrific all-around player with all of the tools,” said coach Tom Bunn. “She has been our best hitter, she has an awesome throwing arm, great speed and is a critical part of our pitching staff (when she isn’t playing outfield or catching). However, what really sets Lydia apart is her enthusiasm and effort. It’s just different and it helps make her the player that she is. She is a relentless worker and when someone doubts whether or not she can do something, she just works harder. She’s an awesome kid and a lot of fun to watch play.”
Lydia started playing softball from the young age of 3 years old. She knew the game was going to be a big part of her life and important to her when she saw Victoria Draper’s diving catch in center field during the 2016 Women’s College World Series.
“My favorite softball memory is overcoming adversity to pitch over 26 innings during the Nationals Tournament last season,” said Lydia.
From all of us at the Alliance and the ACFL, congratulations to Lydia Anderson for her achievements.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month.
To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
