OnDeck Softball was introduced to the Higa family in 2017 when Kaiea (Sophomore at Oregon State) came to a Seattle tryout and thoroughly impressed them. Flash forward to 2022 when Kalani followed her sister, also attending a Seattle tryout. Needless to say, Kalani was also extremely impressive and she followed up that tryout with stellar outings at both the 2022 and 2023 Colorado Jamborees. Now this 2026 a.i. Bandit star has been named the OnDeck Softball/Alliance Player of the Month for April.

In a statement from OnDeck Softball Co-Founder Derek Allister, he expressed admiration for Kalani’s multifaceted skills on the field. “Kalani is an impressive athlete who plays both 3B and catcher,” Allister remarked. “She is superb defensively, but also can really swing the bat. I can honestly say, I have never watched Kalani play and walked away disappointed. She has it all – talent, desire, athleticism, and a fierce competitive spirit. We will be excited to follow Kalani in her path to college stardom.”
