Liliana Montoya Named Alliance National Pitcher of the Month for November
By jess

The Alliance Fastpitch proudly announces Liliana Montoya 2025 from the RMFL as National Pitcher of the Month for her remarkable play in November 2024. Liliana, a versatile player for New Mexico Suncats National Gandert, excels on the mound. Her November stats include 11 innings pitched, she had 27 strikeouts and a .64 ERA.
Liliana Montoya’s softball journey begins at the age of 10, inspired by an older cousin who plays baseball. The game becomes a blessing in her life, offering not just athletic growth, but also meaningful friendships, valuable lessons, and experiences of overcoming adversity. Softball pushes Liliana to grow both as an athlete and as a person, with the competitive environment continually challenging her to improve. Liliana credits much of her success to her dad, who has been her unwavering support throughout the journey. Her mom and sister also stand by her side, offering encouragement and cheering her on. The family trips for tournaments, late-night practices, and the unforgettable moments of receiving rings at the end of tournaments are among Liliana’s most cherished memories. She values the close-knit relationships with her teammates and the lifelong friends she’s made along the way, with the support of all the parents who have been part of her journey.
One of Liliana’s favorite softball memories takes place in 2019, during the State tournament for Allstars. Her team faces a tough opponent that had previously beaten them. In the last inning, with the score tied 0-0 and a runner on second, Liliana hits a walk-off double to win the game. Her team beats the same opponent again in the next game, earning a spot in Waco to play in regionals—a moment she’ll always treasure.
Liliana’s favorite player is Rachel Garcia, but outside of softball, she enjoys working out, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.
Looking ahead, Liliana has set ambitious goals for herself. She aims to win a high school state championship and an AFCS National Championship while preparing for her academic and softball career at New Mexico State University. Ultimately, Liliana aspires to become a psychiatrist, balancing her passion for softball with her commitment to personal and academic growth. The Alliance Fastpitch commends Liliana Montoya on her well-deserved recognition as Player of the Month, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to the sport and her commitment to personal and athletic growth.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
