Contessa Smith Named Alliance National Player of the Month for March
The Alliance Fastpitch proudly announces Contessa Smith from the PCFL as Player of the Month for her remarkable play in March 2025. Contessa, a versatile player for Batbusters Gomes Slama, excels in multiple positions—3B, C. Her March stats include a .560 batting average, a .621 OBP, 7 singles, 5 doubles, 2 homeruns, and 12 RBIs.
Contessa Smith’s softball journey begins at just five years old when she starts playing T-Ball. By the time she reaches 8U, she joins a rec softball team and soon moves up to a competitive team in 10U, never looking back. Encouraged by her dad and supported by both parents every step of the way, Contessa finds a deep love for the game. Softball teaches her resilience, leadership, and the value of perseverance. She thrives in the intensity of competition, embracing the grit, strength, and focus the sport demands. For her, the love of softball is simple—it’s about the game itself.
One of her favorite memories comes during her time in 10U, when her team wins its first tournament. The celebration that follows—ice cream and swimming with teammates—marks a perfect ending to a weekend filled with teamwork and joy.
Contessa looks up to Sharlize Palacios as her favorite player, admiring her talent and presence on the field. Outside of softball, she finds happiness in the ocean breeze at the beach, skateboarding with friends, playing guitar, and expressing herself through art and drawing.
Her current goals reflect both her passion for the sport and her drive for personal growth. On the field, Contessa focuses on being the best teammate she can be—someone who works hard, uplifts others, and makes sure the game stays fun. Off the field, she’s committed to her academics, aiming to play Division 1 softball and pursue a future as a sports therapist. She also enjoys playing basketball and staying active through workouts. One day, she hopes to return to the game as a coach, giving back to the sport that has given her so much.

What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month. Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
