Spending time with my family, traveling, working out, reading, shopping and listening to music

Boston College

I chose Boston College for its highly-ranked academic programs, the amazing coaching staff, the campus community, the incredible athletic facilities, and the historic atmosphere of Boston.

There are so many amazing athletes that I admire, but It starts with the person closest to me – My sister – Jazmyn Jackson.

My sister is a great ball player, but what I admire about her and try to model is her mindset and her tools. She has imparted a lot of softball IQ to me. One thing that stands out is to know the play before it happens and to execute.

We are a very sports-focused family of 6. My dad (Diffric) played football and baseball, and my brothers Isaiah and Elijah played football and baseball as well. My brother Elijah won a state title while at Salesian. My sister Jazmyn focused on softball and played for Cal/Team USA and professionally for Athletes Unlimited.

I think my softball legacy would be to inspire and empower young women of color to pursue their passions and dreams on and off the field, and to break down barriers and stereotypes that may limit their opportunities and potential.

My birth was not what my family and doctors expected. When I was born I wasn’t breathing and the umbilical cord was around my neck and chest.

The Doctors were able to revive me but my vitals were very low. They rushed me to a children’s hospital where I was monitored for a month. After that month, they allowed me to go home with my family and a home nurse. Before my first birthday, I had to undergo surgery for a heart condition and I’ve grown up with multiple allergies.

My siblings always were my protectors and my parents learned how to manage with a baby that had different requirements than their other children. I think I’ve overcome a lot of physical, mental, and emotional hurdles to become a successful and humbled student-athlete and my goal is to continue to live my life with gratitude.
