Cheryl Wang Named Alliance National Player of the Month for January
The Alliance Fastpitch is proud to honor Cheryl Wang (2030) of the Pacific Coast Fastpitch League (PCFL) as the Alliance National Player of the Month for January. Representing OC Batbusters Legacy Black 14u, Cheryl delivered an exceptional offensive performance, recording 20 hits—including 16 singles and 4 doubles—while driving in 11 RBIs. She finished the month with an outstanding .714 batting average, .750 on-base percentage, and a 1.607 OPS.
Cheryl began her softball journey at the age of 7, picking up the sport without prior family experience. What started as a new activity quickly became a passion, as she found motivation, confidence, and personal growth through the game. Her dedication has fueled her development into a strong, well-rounded athlete.
Among her favorite softball memories are two standout experiences: helping her All-Star team place second at Nationals during her 10u season, and advancing to the Alliance Championship with her 12u travel team, where they also finished as runner-up. Both moments reflect her commitment to growth and competing at a high level.
While she doesn’t name a single favorite player, Cheryl follows and draws inspiration from athletes like Kai Minor.
Outside of softball, Cheryl enjoys biking, playing the violin and piano, and competing in cross country—demonstrating her discipline across multiple areas.
Her goals are equally ambitious on and off the field. Cheryl aims to help her team secure a third consecutive National Championship while inspiring others to play the game. Academically, she is striving for admission to Stanford University while maintaining her 4.0+ GPA and continuing to excel in cross country.
Cheryl’s drive, consistency, and leadership make her a standout and a deserving National Player of the Month.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, registered Alliance Fastpitch coaches can nominate a player from their age division. League Leadership will review nominations and a monthly stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL) to determine the League’s Player of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
