Alliance Mayhem: Alliance Fastpitch’s Top-Ranked Teams Revealed in Super Division

Today, we’re unveiling the Top 16 Alliance Fastpitch youth softball teams in each age division of the Super Division based on their Alliance Rating. Alliance Fastpitch National Team Rankings are powered by the Alliance Team Rating System, a performance-based calculation that measures the games results of teams playing in the Alliance. The Alliance Fastpitch works with AthletesGoLive to automatically capture game results from tournaments in Alliance League Schedules and turns those results into a Team Rating for each Alliance Team. What Is the Alliance Team Rating?

Behind every team leaderboard is the Alliance Rating System, a performance-based model similar to the RPI used in college softball. Built on the ELO rating framework, this system evaluates teams by more than just wins and losses. It factors in strength of schedule, margin of victory, and the quality of opponents, giving a more accurate snapshot of team performance throughout the season.

To be included in the rankings, teams must score and stream their games through AthletesGoLive. This ensures that results are captured automatically and fairly, keeping the system data-driven and transparent. Learn more about the Alliance Rating System and Team Leaderboards here.

The ELO Formula Explained:

Think of Elo like a points game where teams earn or lose rating based on who they play and how strong their opponents are.

Example:

• Team A has a higher rating (they’ve been winning a lot).
• Team B is rated lower (they’re still proving themselves).

If Team A beats Team B – they gain a few points (because it was expected).
If Team B beats Team A – they gain a lot of points (because it was an upset).
If they tie (or it’s a close game), the points exchanged will be smaller.

Your rating moves up or down depending on:

• Who you play
• Whether you win or lose
• How strong your opponent is

The better the competition you face—and the more you win—the faster your team rating climbs.

Why Team Ratings Matters:

These team ratings are about more than bragging rights, they help inform seedings for the Alliance Fastpitch Championship Series (AFCS). While team rating is an important component, it’s one of several factors considered by the AFCS Seeding Committee.
