Shelby Southard Named Alliance Fastpitch National Player of the Month for September
The Alliance Fastpitch proudly announces Shelby Southard (2026) from the NWFL as National Player of the Month for her remarkable play in September 2025. Shelby, a versatile player for Ai Bandits Breer, excels at second base and shortstop. Her September stats include a .667 batting average, 2.291 OPS, and 1.571 slugging percentage.
Shelby’s softball journey began at a very young age, inspired by her dad. She has played softball for nearly her entire life, loving the game for the chance to be on the field with her best friends and to build lasting friendships. A cherished softball memory for Shelby is being honored to play in the All-American Games at Devon Park, Oklahoma, where she met new friends and competed with some of the most talented players in the country.
Shelby’s favorite player is River Mahler from Stanford, who has been a great mentor to her. Outside of softball, she finds joy in spending time with family and friends, hiking, being in the water, scuba diving, and catching up on sleep when she can.
Shelby’s current goals are to start her journey as a college student pursuing a business degree and to help her team win an Alliance National Title. The Alliance Fastpitch commends Shelby on her well-deserved recognition as Player of the Month, acknowledging her outstanding contributions to the sport and her commitment to personal and athletic growth.
What is the Alliance Fastpitch Player Recognition Program?
The Player Recognition Program was built to recognize and spotlight our individual players in each Member League. Each month, League Leadership receives and reviews a detailed stats report from AthletesGoLive (AGL). Based on this report, the committee selects League Players of the Month.
Following the announcement of each League’s Players of the Month, the Alliance Fastpitch will recognize a National Player of the Month. To be considered for Player of the Month, your team must score League games in AGL so your stats will be included in the League’s monthly report.
